Post Oak Road Kitchen Fire Displaces Family

District 1 Fire was dispatched to a kitchen fire on Post Oak road at 8:16 PM Saturday evening. Engine 31 was first on scene at 8:22 and they encountered a mobile home with fire through the roof. The picture is just before E31 made entry. District 1 Engine 31 made an aggressive interior attack from the front despite heavy fire and smoke. They were followed shortly after by St. Hedwig E142 from the rear. The fire was contained to the kitchen, living room and attic despite the fire having a significant head-start. The three bedrooms suffered smoke and water damage only. The fire originated on the stove. No injuries were reported and the family is staying with relatives close by. Red Cross is also assisting.
Tonight was a great example of teamwork by District 1 Fire and District 3 EMS. District 3 EMS staffs some cross trained firefighter EMTs and their help was invaluable tonight. They help us on fires just like we are cross trained to help them with EMS.
New Berlin VFD and Wilson County District 2 also assisted with manpower and water tenders.
